English version | The princess and the pea

In this 1835 tale by the Danish Hans Christian Andersen, our protagonist has to prove her nobility and value before the prince by being subjected to sleep with a pea under various mattresses and covers, waking up with a bruise to prove that her skin and posture are delicate and worthy of a princess. Nothing could be further from the contours it would take in the 21st century.

Nothing could be further from the contours it would take in the 21st century: in 2022, the princess would be an influencer who would automatically make an Instagram story demeaning the establishment, a reel denouncing the Prince Regent's unsolicited and unrequited flirtation, and add a discount code for the nearest palace that offered her lodging. For the sake of sustainability, I would also take the opportunity to make an instagrammable delicacy with the said vegetable, because everyone knows that peas are a great source of vegan protein. PS: what is the #outfitoftheday? Haute Couture. Photography by Branislav Simoncik. Styling by Nina Ford.
