But some things are forever. Over the past 20 years, thousands, if not millions, of Beauty products have been launched - to test them all, you would need at least two lifetimes. But hype is a thing that comes and goes. This small selection includes only those products that, since their launch, have never ceased to be a cult item - at least for us. These are the truly timeless ones.

Promises: a glow worthy of a Hollywood star. Vogue's word: Introduced in 2018, five years after Charlotte Tilbury’s launch, the Hollywood Flawless Filter is one of the biggest success stories of the makeup artist's namesake brand. The product, which Charlotte tested (successfully) for several months on some famous clients, is neither a liquid foundation nor a liquid concealer - it is a (miracle) illuminator that can be used before or after applying makeup to give the skin an instant glow... that needs no filter. Impossible, right? Wrong. On those days when you don't have time or patience for your beauty routine, all you need to do is apply the Hollywood Flawless Filter to your cheekbones and light-reflective features, and you're ready to leave the house. Available in more than ten shades, it is a (very) worthy investment. If I had to choose five beauty products to take to a desert island, this would be one of them.

Promises: luminous skin, through exfoliation that stimulates skin cell renewal and deeply cleanses impurities and pollution. Vogue's word: there is a reason why this product has been a brand essential for precisely 20 years. Its composition alone is enough to convince us - sea salt is wrapped in a mixture of avocado butter, coconut oil and lime oil, which provides effective exfoliation but does not harm the skin. The result is a smooth complexion so hydrated that it almost convinces us not to apply a lotion after.

Promises: multi-dimensional effect lashes - more volume, longer length, sharper curvature, darker pigments. Vogue’s word: the Better Than Sex mascara, launched by Too Faced in 2014, was one of the first makeup phenomena driven by YouTube tutorials and Instagram posts. I tried it a few months after its arrival in Portugal and realized, right from the first use, that the hype was justified. The brush is very comfortable and easy to handle, and the pigment is, as it promises, darker than most mascaras I've tested. Its effect is immediately visible in the length and density of the lashes, giving a deeper, more mysterious look. So many years later, it is still on my favorites list.

Promises: a complete treatment for hands and nails, moisturizing even the driest skin. Vogue’s word: I'll start by clarifying right away - I can't use hand cream throughout the day. My hands are naturally prone to sweat, and when perspiration mixes with the cream, I need to wash them immediately. However, I still enjoy using it, I just incorporate it as the last step in my evening skincare routine. Therefore, the formula of Chanel's La Crème Main fits perfectly with the way I use hand cream. Simultaneously moisturizing and quickly absorbed, the cream is perfect for ensuring that I don't waste product by spreading it across my bed as I fall asleep. Enriched with shea butter, and with an extremely pleasant fruity scent, it quickly became the best hand cream I have ever tried. Extra points for the packaging, which makes it a real aesthetic object.
