The duo of protagonists - and the plot - of the Czechoslovak film Daisies (1966) serve as the fuse for a fashion editorial that is an ode to the counter-current. In this case, it protests against growing up by force, the current norms, the loss of innocence, the giving up of child’s play. In the film directed by Věra Chytilová, the characters Marie (Jitka Cerhová) and Marie (Ivana Karbanová) are the pair responsible for a series of strange pranks, in a clear affirmation and defense of fun to the detriment of a life conditioned by rules. In this kind of satire of a decadent bourgeoisie, which became a banner of the Czechoslovak New Wave movement, the feature film is considered a criticism of authoritarianism, communism and patriarchy. The pages that follow, in turn, advocate only one thing: total obedience to (the freedom of) the age of innocence. Photography by Koto Bolofo. Styling by Aline De Beauclaire.
